PRESS RELEASE REGARDING “THE PIGEON PEOPLE”
DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER DISTANCES HIMSELF
FROM UNRELATED TV SHOW "THE PIGEON PEOPLE"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHOENIX, ARIZONA – October 17th, 2024 – Filmmaker Patrick Gramm clarifies that there is no connection between his feature-length documentary The Pigeon People, released in late 2023 on Apple TV, Prime Video, and Tubi (and available for sale on DVD at major retailers), and a recently released, subpar TV series in Ireland, created by Irish journalist Sarah Breen and distributed by UTV, that shares the same title.
"My film The Pigeon People is a meticulously crafted, critically acclaimed documentary that dives deep into the fascinating subculture of pigeon racing,” said Patrick Gramm, filmmaker and director of The Pigeon People. "It has been praised for its rich and authentic storytelling and imagery, which stands in stark contrast to the poorly executed and embarrassing effort seen in the unrelated TV series."
The four-part TV docuseries, currently airing in Ireland under the same name, explores similar themes but at a significantly lower standard of quality and storytelling. The unfortunate decision to use the identical title has caused confusion among audiences and undermines the hard work and dedication behind Gramm's original project.
"We are deeply disappointed that this TV show has not only borrowed the title but also seems to lack originality in its approach, failing to differentiate itself from the authenticity and care we brought to the subject. While imitation might be considered flattery, we cannot condone such a blatant disregard for originality or intellectual property."
Patrick Gramm encourages audiences to seek out the original, feature-length The Pigeon People, which continues to garner critical acclaim and streaming success across major platforms, and to reject content that disrespects other creators' work.
